Illinois Mennonite Historical & Genealogical Society
IMHGS promotes heritage awareness through programs, tours and exhibits, research and publication. We remember Swiss-German Amish-Mennonite pioneers of 1830-1850 to central and northern Illinois, their rural settlements and their faith by preserving pertinent unique items for posterity.
Come tour our main gallery, walk through a Gross Daadi Haus (grandfather house from early 20th century), explore the Sutter Barn, look at agricultural tools and equipment in the farm museum, browse our library containing over 5000 pieces for research in Mennonite history and genealogy, and observe an arboretum or native trees, prairie grass and flowers. Tour guides are available during open hours. Like our Facebook page for updates and more information!
